Your privacy is very important to Wine Knows. (“Wine Knows.”, “we”, “us” or “our”), and in order to best protect your information, we have adopted this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”), which applies to your access to and use of our website as well as to any and all information you submit to us in connection with your use of the website. By using the website, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the website.  

 

Wine Knows. may in the course of your use of this website and your shopping experience with us, collect and use personal information provided by you to us. While we may use this personal information to improve your service experience with us, we are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and the details of your shopping behaviour and preferences. 

 

Collection of information

We will collect only such personal information from you as may be required to permit us to fulfill the purposes set out herein. Such information may include your name, address, email address, telephone numbers, date of birth, gender, personal interests, and shopping or product preferences. We will collect this information to authenticate your identity, to improve your experience, to understand your preferences for the types of products and services that we offer, to administer our promotions and programs, to communicate with you and to process payment for our products and services. We may also collect personal information from you on our website and in our stores in connection with your participation in promotional programs and special offers which we may initiate from time to time. In addition, we may collect additional information from you from time to time for purposes ancillary to those set out above.

 

We may also log non-personally-identifiable information including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, and browser type, from users and visitors to this website. This data is used to manage the website, track usage and improve the website services. This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third-parties to provide more relevant services and notices to users. User IP addresses may be recorded for security and monitoring purposes.

 

We may also use your email address to send updates, a newsletter or news regarding our products or services. We will provide you with the option to choose not to receive emails of this type.

 

Over the course of our relationship, information will be created that was not intended but merely resulted from the regularity of transactions between us. We are committed to honest and open communication and will make your personal information available to you upon request.

 

Children

We do not intend to collect any personal information from children under eighteen years of age. If a parent or guardian of a child who has provided us with such personal information would like the information deleted from our records, he or she should contact us at the email address listed at the bottom of this policy statement. We will then delete the child’s personal information from our files.

 

Use of Cookies

We may use alphanumeric identifiers in the form of text files, namely “cookies”, to store visitors' preferences and to record session information, to ensure that visitors are not repeatedly offered the same page content and to customize newsletter, promotional, and web page content based on browser type and user information. Such information is used within Wine Knows internal organization and is not shared third-partyparty advertisers. You may be able to configure your browser to accept or reject all or some cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. Note that deleting cookies or directing your browser to refuse them may limit your ability to use certain portions of our website that require cookies to function.

This website may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices on other sites. When linking to another site a user should read the privacy policy stated on that site. Our Privacy Policy only governs information collected on this website which may be amended from time to time without notice.

 

Use and disclosure of personal information

Except as expressly provided herein, we do not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it is collected, except with the consent of the provider or as required by law. We may use third parties to outsource one or more aspects of our business (such as email, customer service, data processing, analytics, data storage and compilation), in which case we would have to disclose to such third parties (who would be required by us to comply with this Privacy Policy and any other obligation we have with respect to any information provided by you in connection with the website, to the same extent as our obligations) the personal information necessary for such third parties to provide such services.   

 

Wine Knows will not sell, rent nor share your personal information to any organization or individual other than its affiliated businesses or third parties as aforesaid contracted by Wine Knows to carry out communications, programs or analysis on Wine Knows’ behalf. 

 

Notwithstanding the above, we may disclose personal information to a third party if such disclosure is necessary: (1) to conform to legal requirements or to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other legal process received by us, whether or not a response is required by applicable law; (2) to enforce the Terms and Conditions of use of any program to protect our rights; or (3) to protect the safety of members of the public and users of the website. We reserve the right to disclose personal information to any prospective successor in interest that is in good faith contemplating the acquisition of our business or substantially all of our assets. We further reserve the right to transfer all such personal information to such prospective successor in interest in the event of a sale, amalgamation, continuance or other transfer or conveyance of our business or substantially all of our assets.

 

Retention and safeguarding your personal information

We will retain your personal information for as long as it is required to fulfill our obligations to you as our customer. We will take all necessary and reasonable measures to safeguard that information from any unauthorized access. We caution that internet and electronic databases are vulnerable to interception, use and/or alteration by a person(s) other than the intended recipient. We use industry-standard encryption technology and advanced firewall systems to deter unwanted intruders. While these and other safeguards have been implemented to reduce this risk, there may still be some vulnerability. Therefore any electronic communications are done at your sole risk.  

 

Further to the above, even the most sophisticated systems have been "hacked into" so our best defence is to delete information on our system that would benefit anyone other than you and us. No credit card information is stored in any of our databases. Hard copies of personal information are stored in a secure area at our offices, and are only made available to authorized personnel. While our entire company understands and respects your personal privacy, our Director, Risk Management is our appointed Privacy Officer and is specifically responsible for ensuring your personal information remains confidential.

 

Information collected by us may be stored and processed in Canada, the United States or in any other country in which we, our agents or our third party contractors maintain facilities. By using the website, you consent to any such transfer and storage of information outside of Canada, where data protection laws may be different. Freson Bros. makes no representation or warranty with respect to any duty to permanently store any information you may provide.  By using the website and providing us with information, you waive any claims that may arise under your own or any other local or national laws, rules, regulations or international treaties. This Privacy Policy, as amended, applies to your information for as long as your information is in our possession, even if you terminate or discontinue your use of the website.

 

Consumer access to Personal Information

We are committed to keeping you informed and to ensuring the accuracy of your personal information. At your request, we will provide you with details of all of your personal information which we have, what it is being used for, and to whom it has been disclosed. In some limited cases, we may be unable to access or provide some specific information. We will provide reasonable rationale for any inability to release information.

 

You may send us a written request requiring that your personal information be deleted from our databases, or you may request that your personal information be updated or corrected to amend any inaccuracies.
